About Us
The DSA North Texas cares deeply about the climate crisis and believes that it is linked to capitalism and the profit motive. The Eco-Socialist Working Group (ESWG) is focused on advocating for high quality public transit in North Texas, because North Texas’ car dependent landscape leads to increased carbon emissions, poor air quality, and decreased living standards.
About our work
We are organizing around recent threats to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) funding. Because state representatives from Plano aim to reduce DART sales tax funding by 25%, we are canvassing working people in different DART service areas to inform and mobilize them to contact their state legislators. Our goal is to protect DART funding from being gutted so we can push for the improvements riders deserve (higher frequencies, later service hours, more reliability). We often work in coalition with other pro-transit local groups.
