Anti-War Working Group
About Us
The DSA North Texas Anti-War Working Group (AWG) opposes U.S. imperialism from within. We are against wars for profit, wars for hegemony, U.S. financing of military conflicts of any kind, and we are opposed to American economic warfare against supposed “enemy countries”. We also oppose international institutions that act as levers of imperialist exploitation of the third-world, including but not limited to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
About our work
We collaborate with allies such as the Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, Party for Socialism & Liberation, and other anti-imperialist organizations. We joined together to take a stand when the Jewish National Fund’s Global Conference for Israel came to Dallas, bringing with it a decades-long legacy of expropriating Palestinian land into the hands of settlers. We lobbied the Hilton Hotel to end their involvement with this disgusting conference, and when they refused, we showed out in force to march with over 500 other people, from countless other organizations, to show the Hilton and the Jewish National Fund that we would not accept genocidaires conspiring in our community. The chants were loud enough to be heard inside the hotel, and the banner our contingent was carrying made the local news, along with quotes from a press release two of our members had co-authored in partnership with a PSL comrade (later removed from the article).
We mobilize our membership to protests in support of Palestine.
We educate our members and prospective members. We bring guests to teach members about the history of Israel and Palestine. We also screen Palestinian art and cinema to help members understand the everyday humiliations of Israeli apartheid.
