Queer Feminist Working Group

About Us

Texas is a dangerous place for queer people. DSA North Texas is committed to fighting against queer repression everywhere that it exists. Be it in government, in our communities, at the workplace, or public spaces. We believe queer politics is more than just “fighting for rights.” Queer politics is a liberatory framework. It is a vision of a world that does not delineate between what is acceptable, normative sexuality, gender or race but instead embraces and celebrates life in all its sublime variety.

About our work

We have several strategies to accomplish our goals:

We act prefiguratively. We in DSA North Texas treat people with the dignity and respect that they deserve full stop. We respect pronouns, honor boundaries, and we do our best to give everybody a voice. Change starts with us.

We are in the process of curating a list of queer-friendly spaces in Dallas Fort-Worth that we plan to share publicly. These are spaces and services verified in-person by a DSA North Texas member and accompanied by a short review.

We just launched our radical group therapy sessions! A community based, member led approach to improving mental health via radical solidarity and participation in radical left-wing politics.

We also have an active legislative approach as part of DSA’s national Trans Rights and Bodily Autonomy campaign. Wins in this department are scarce but we take them when we can get them, such as when we passed a trans sanctuary resolution at Dallas County. We’re currently in the process of trying to do the same in the city.
